Libertas Democratic Party criticizes Skopje Airport monopoly

The Libertas Democratic Party (LDP) has accused the VMRO-DPMNE government of creating a dangerous aviation monopoly at Skopje International Airport. The LDP claims that taxpayer funds are being used to support a market where a single Hungarian low-cost carrier controls over 60 percent of the market share.

According to the LDP, this policy contradicts government promises to fight monopolies and promote market diversification. They argue that while traditional European carriers are exiting the airport, state resources are being used to maintain a system that leaves citizens without real choice. The party contrasted Macedonia's situation with regional neighbors like Pristina, Sofia, and Tirana, which they claim have maintained market pluralism and competitive pricing through a variety of national and low-cost airlines.
