Liberty Global forms Ziggo Group after VodafoneZiggo buyout

Liberty Global has completed its acquisition of Vodafone’s 50 per cent stake in VodafoneZiggo, leading to the formation of Ziggo Group. This new Benelux telecommunications entity will serve approximately 13 million customers and generate an annual revenue of roughly €6.6 billion.

Under the new structure, Liberty Global holds a 90 per cent stake in Ziggo Group, while Vodafone retains a 10 per cent shareholding. As part of the transaction, Vodafone received approximately €1 billion in cash. The group will consolidate Liberty Global’s interests in VodafoneZiggo in the Netherlands with Telenet operations in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Liberty Global plans to list Ziggo Group on the Amsterdam stock exchange in 2027 through a spin-off to shareholders. The company is also undergoing financial restructuring, including the separation of financing for Telenet and Wyre to facilitate debt repayment, and is pursuing between €1.2 billion and €1.4 billion in asset sales to further reduce debt.
