Calabrian singer-songwriter Libra has released a new song titled ‘Vruscia’, a word in the Calabrian dialect meaning ‘burn’. The track explores themes of departure, return, and deep-seated roots, specifically focusing on those who left Southern Italy to seek new opportunities but maintain a desire to reconnect with their origins.

Rather than presenting a romanticized view of Calabria, the song addresses the region's contradictions, describing it as a place that can be simultaneously welcoming and suspicious, festive and wounded. The title ‘Vruscia’ carries a dual meaning: the resilient energy of those seeking redemption and a bitter reaction to external prejudices.

The music video was filmed in Girifalco, Libra’s birthplace. The inspiration for the song reportedly stemmed from an old interview with Mia Martini, where her pride in her Calabrian identity inspired the artist to reflect on the distinct, often stubborn character of the local people.
