Libraries in Chile and Mexico celebrate anniversaries with cultural festivals

Two prominent libraries are celebrating significant anniversaries with community-focused cultural events.

In San Felipe, Chile, the Biblioteca San Felipe El Real will mark its 48th anniversary on September 26. The celebration includes a poetic showcase, live music from a local emerging singer, and a ceremony to recognize outstanding users. Cultural manager Patricia Zuñiga noted the event aims to celebrate the people who have brought life to the institution over nearly five decades.

In Mexico, the Biblioteca Vasconcelos is hosting a three-day festival from September 25 to 27, 2026, to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The “Fiesta del Libro” will feature over 60 free activities, including conferences, workshops, and concerts. The event will host approximately 70 national guests and 22 independent publishing houses and bookstores, featuring authors, illustrators, and researchers.
