Libraries roll out Summer Quest reading challenges for kids in US and UK
The Dillsburg Area Public Library in northern York County, Pennsylvania is hosting its annual Summer Quest program from June 1 to August 16. Children and teens can log reading minutes through the Beanstack app, earn prizes from local businesses, and attend free events such as a one‑man band, a bubble magician and a walking‑trail code hunt. Adults may also join a dedicated reading challenge.
In Devon, England, libraries have launched The Summer Book Quest: Mission to Wayfarer Island, running July 11 to September 12. The transport‑themed challenge lets children aged 4‑11 collect stickers, complete activities and receive a medal, and is part of the National Year of Reading. Both programmes aim to foster joy in reading over the summer holidays.
