Library and cultural sector events scheduled for late 2026

Several professional conferences and training sessions for the library and cultural sectors are scheduled for late 2026.

In Germany, the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung and the Deutscher Bibliotheksverband will host free online training sessions for libraries in towns with up to 50,000 inhabitants. These sessions, part of the ‘Land. schafft. Demokratie’ initiative, will cover topics such as political neutrality and fake news detection. Additionally, the 18th Göttingen Copyright Symposium will take place on November 3, 2026, focusing on the role of collecting societies in relation to AI. The NFDI4Culture consortium will also hold its 6th Culture Community Plenary from November 9–11, 2026, in Bochum, bringing together stakeholders in cultural research data.

In Helsinki, the 17th international symposium titled ‘Reading, Libraries, and Cultural Sustainability’ is set to occur from November 5–6, 2026.
