Library developments reported in San Miniato Basso and Moliterno
In San Miniato Basso, the trade union Cub has criticized the local administration regarding the reopening of the San Miniato Basso library, scheduled for October 16 following a two-year closure and 700,000 euro renovation. The union expressed concern over the job security of workers from the previous contract, alleging a lack of transparency regarding management models and the failure to ensure employment continuity through social clauses. Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the BiblioCiaf in Ponte a Egola, where educators are reportedly performing library-specific tasks.
In Moliterno, the Giacomo Racioppi Library is launching the ‘parImpàri. Leggere per crescere insieme’ project. Funded by the Ministry of Culture’s ‘Lettura per tutti 2025’ initiative, the project aims to increase accessibility for people with disabilities, the elderly, rural residents, and foreign nationals. Planned activities include Braille writing courses, expressive reading workshops, and home book delivery services to assist those unable to visit the library physically.
