Librazhd forest fires damage 8 hectares in Mali i Dardhës

A forest fire in the Mali i Dardhës mountain massif, located within the Hotolisht Administrative Unit of Librazhd, has been burning for approximately three weeks. The fire, which first appeared in early August, has damaged roughly 8 hectares of forest.

Firefighting efforts face significant challenges due to the rugged, difficult-to-access mountainous terrain and a thick layer of humus, dry trunks, and wood that allow flames to reactivate even after containment attempts. Recent high temperatures and strong winds have exacerbated the situation, causing the fire to spread to new areas of the forest massif.

Emergency operations involve firefighters, forestry service personnel, and local residents. Efforts to isolate and extinguish the flames continue around the clock to prevent further spread.
