Librazhd wildfire threatens residential areas near Xhyrë

A large-scale wildfire is spreading rapidly through the area between the villages of Xhyrë and Vehçan in the Hotolisht Administrative Unit, within the Librazhd municipality. The fire, which began midday, has consumed massive amounts of acacia and shrubs, fueled by dry vegetation and difficult terrain.

The situation is critical as flames have approached residential areas, particularly near the former train station in Xhyrë. To prevent the fire from reaching homes, emergency services are utilizing both ground and aerial interventions, including helicopter support.

Firefighting forces from Librazhd, Prrenjas, Elbasan, Gramsh, and Cerriku have been mobilized to isolate the active fronts. Authorities are also closely monitoring the proximity of the fire to the Librazhd-Prrenjas national road to mitigate further risks.
