Gabon President Oligui Nguema Engages SEEG Staff on Utility Reform

President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema met with employees of the Société d’Énergie et d’Eau du Gabon (SEEG) at the Jean Violas training centre in Owendo on 30 June 2026. The three‑hour dialogue, requested by the staff, addressed long‑standing problems such as recurrent power outages, water shortages, ageing infrastructure and management shortcomings.

The president stressed that lasting improvements require strict governance, transparency, accountability and a collective commitment from all levels of the organisation. He reiterated that reliable water and electricity are fundamental rights and essential drivers of health, education and economic development, and pledged to continue reforms aimed at making SEEG a modern, performance‑oriented utility.
