Libreville hosts regional seminar on financial investigations and cryptocurrency

A regional seminar focused on financial investigations, cryptocurrencies, and the darknet concluded in Libreville on October 27, 2026. Organized under the SECFIN Africa program, the six-day training aimed to strengthen the capacity of investigators from seven Central African francophone countries: Gabon, Cameroon, Chad, the Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Participants received training in tracing financial flows on public blockchains, analyzing darknet market operations, and conducting practical patrimonial investigations. The curriculum also covered international cooperation requests and procedures for seizing digital assets to combat money laundering and terrorism financing.

Guennolet Boumas Ngabina, Director General of Gabon’s National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), praised the expertise provided by trainers Aurélien Vuilleumier and Olivier Beaudet-Labrecque. The event was supported by the National Agency for Digital Infrastructure and Frequencies (ANINF).
