Libreville Hosts International Campus Mbongi 2026 Scientific Summer School
Libreville, Gabon, hosted the second edition of Campus Mbongi from 27 July to 8 August 2026. Organized by the Central African Economic Community (CEEAC), the summer school brought together forty young researchers from eleven member states under the theme “Languages, Indigenous Knowledge and Ecology”.
Among the participants was Congolese researcher Muyisa Kapitula Kapson of the Institute of Congo’s Conservation (ICCN). He urged the adoption of Amazon‑region cooperation models for the Congo Basin, noting successful joint initiatives in Brazil, France and French Guiana. Kapson also advocated for broader inter‑basin partnerships, suggesting future collaboration between the Congo and Nile river basin organizations to protect large‑scale ecosystems.
The event aimed to foster scientific exchange, promote the value of African traditional knowledge, and strengthen regional conservation policies.
