Libuš to hold referendum on Písnice housing estate revitalization

The Libuš district council has announced a local referendum regarding the planned revitalization of the Písnice housing estate. The vote is scheduled for October 9 and 10, coinciding with municipal and senate elections.

The project follows the acquisition of the estate this year by real estate developer SATPO and investment group WOOD & Company from CIB Group. The new owners intend to renovate existing apartments for subsequent sale. This has caused concern among current tenants regarding the security of their rental agreements.

The local association ‘Naše Písnice’ is protesting the current revitalization plan. The group argues that the project focuses too heavily on new construction, particularly near the planned metro D station, rather than modernizing existing panel buildings and improving public spaces. Pavla Poštulka, chairman of the association, stated that a negative referendum result would provide the local government with a strong mandate to renegotiate terms with the investors.
