Libya and US discuss infrastructure and reconstruction partnerships

The second Libyan-American Development and Reconstruction Forum opened in Benghazi, facilitating discussions between Libyan officials and American business representatives regarding investment in infrastructure and public services. The event was inaugurated by Belgasem Khalifa Haftar, Director General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, in the presence of the US-Libya Business Association.

Participants focused on utilizing American technical expertise to support development projects in Benghazi and other Libyan cities. Haftar emphasized the necessity of transitioning from discussing investment opportunities to implementing practical programs that facilitate knowledge transfer and strengthen the capabilities of Libyan professionals. The forum aims to identify sectors for future investment and establish partnerships between US companies and local businesses.

This forum follows an inaugural event held in Washington and is part of an effort by the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund to expand international cooperation while involving national professionals in the country's reconstruction efforts.
