Libya Deputy Defence Minister launches military reorganization roadmap

Abdel Salam al-Zoubi, the Deputy Defence Minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity, has introduced a roadmap to reorganize the military landscape in the western part of the country. The plan aims to prevent escalations and address recent mysterious drone attacks by reorganizing armed formations and moving their members out of cities and residential areas.

A key component of the strategy involves identifying locations where ammunition and military equipment are stored to relocate them away from urban centers, reducing the risk of accidents or loss of control.

The initiative reportedly has broad local support and international backing, following meetings with delegations from Egypt, the United States, and Turkey. These efforts are part of a broader political and military process intended to unify the Libyan army. Additionally, al-Zoubi recently met with Saddam Haftar, chief of staff of the Libyan National Army’s ground forces, in Sirte during the Flintlock 2026 military exercises.
