Libya pursues regional integration via Egypt railway and Turkey ties

Strategic economic and political developments are shaping relations between Libya and its neighbors. A proposed railway connection project between Egypt and eastern Libya aims to create a new economic and commercial corridor. This project is viewed as a way to integrate North Africa into regional transport networks, reduce freight costs compared to trucking, and attract investment through the creation of logistics hubs and industrial zones.

Simultaneously, relations between Libya and Turkey are entering a new phase of rapprochement. Following a visit by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, cooperation is expanding across political, security, and economic sectors. Turkey has expressed support for US-led peace initiatives in Libya and is looking to increase the presence of Turkish companies in reconstruction, infrastructure, and investment sectors.
