Libyan assets abroad valued at $150 billion, says Dbeibah

Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, head of Libya’s Government of National Unity, announced at the World Investment Forum in Doha that the market value of Libyan financial assets held abroad is approximately $150 billion. These assets are distributed across various continents and economic sectors.

Dbeibah stated that Libya is open to serious international investments to help diversify its national economy. He noted that the government is working to improve the legislative and regulatory environment, simplify procedures, and enhance transparency and governance to build investor confidence.

Key sectors identified for potential investment include energy, infrastructure, transport, agriculture, industry, tourism, technology, and renewable energy. The government aims to convert these opportunities into sustainable projects through public-private partnerships, technology transfer, and localizing industries to create jobs.

Dbeibah also emphasized the importance of strengthening economic and investment cooperation with Qatar to translate bilateral relations into practical projects.
