Libyan leaders call for political ownership and constitutional adherence

Mohamed Takala, President of the High Council of State, and Abdullah al-Lafi, Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, met in Tripoli to discuss the Libyan political landscape. The leaders emphasized the necessity of maintaining ‘Libyan ownership’ over the political process and adhering to constitutional and legal frameworks to resolve the country's crisis.

The discussions focused on political, economic, and security developments, aiming to move past transitional phases toward stable state institutions. A key priority identified was the unification of military and security institutions based on professional and national standards to ensure sovereignty and stability.

The meeting also addressed efforts to break the current political deadlock and facilitate national consensus. This includes working toward unified, legitimate institutions through free and fair elections to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.
