Libya’s NOC targets 355,000 bpd at Sharara oilfield by 2027

Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Akakus Oil Operations have established a production target of approximately 355,000 barrels per day (bpd) for the Sharara oilfield by mid-2027. This goal follows a period of strong performance, with the field reaching a peak of about 335,000 bpd in August.

During a technical and financial meeting in Tripoli, officials reviewed operational results and strategic plans. The participants commended Akakus for its rapid response to a fire on a main 30-inch export pipeline in March, which helped maintain export continuity.

Future priorities for 2027 include conducting workshops with foreign partners to discuss reservoir development and drilling programs. The parties also agreed to accelerate safety and fire protection projects, upgrade surface facilities, and implement reservoir development plans. The meeting included representatives from international partners Repsol, TotalEnergies, OMV, and Equinor.
