Licata man sent to trial for domestic abuse and stalking
A man from Licata has been ordered to stand trial by a judge in Agrigento following allegations of repeated domestic violence and stalking against his former partner. The indictment, supported by prosecutor Carola Bisanti, covers a period of alleged abuse including physical assaults such as slapping, punching, and hair-pulling.
According to investigators, the violence occurred even while the victim was holding their newborn child. The accused is also charged with stalking the woman after their relationship ended, which included following her and simulating an attempt to hit her with a car. In one instance, the victim was allegedly struck in the back of the head while attempting to retrieve personal belongings from their former home.
The victim has joined the proceedings as a civil party, representing both herself and her child. The child is recognized as an offended party under the legal principle of assisted violence, which protects minors from the psychological trauma of witnessing domestic abuse.
