Liceo Buratti: New funds allocated to attenuate historical inscription
The Province of Viterbo has allocated over 12,000 euros for additional restoration work at the Liceo Mariano Buratti classical high school. The funds are specifically intended to address the visibility of the historical inscription “Casa del Balilla” on the building's facade, which resurfaced during recent restoration efforts.
Following a site inspection by the Soprintendenza on August 10, authorities requested an expansion of the stratigraphic analysis and further diagnostic investigations into the wall's layers and materials. The Soprintendenza also determined that the inscription's color needs further attenuation, as it remains too prominent. The goal is not to erase the text but to reduce its chromatic impact to make it less noticeable.
The new contract has been awarded to the firm Art Novae, led by restorer Emanuele Ioppolo, to ensure continuity with the ongoing building works. The project includes conducting new tests, taking samples, and providing a detailed report with photographic documentation.
