Liceo Formiggini removes Falcone and Borsellino memorial

A memorial panel dedicated to magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino has been removed from the atrium of Liceo A. F. Formiggini in Sassuolo. The removal has caused dissatisfaction among students and teachers who viewed the artwork as part of the school’s daily identity.

The school principal stated that the decision followed instructions from the Head of Prevention and Protection Services. The panel, which is made entirely of wood, was deemed a fire hazard. The school is preparing for a Fire Department inspection to obtain the necessary SCIA safety certification, and other wooden panels have also been removed. The Municipality of Sassuolo has reportedly requested to use the work for another purpose.
