Liceo Politécnico de Castro wins Chiloé culinary competition

Students from the Liceo Bicentenario Politécnico de Castro won first place in the First Gastronomic Competition: Recipes of the Chiloé Bicentennial. Their winning dish, titled ‘Menú del Caleuche’, utilized regional ingredients including salmon, potatoes, luche, beans, chicha, murta, and Chilota pear.

The competition was organized by the Chiloé Local Public Education Service and the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology (INTA) at the University of Chile. It was held to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Chiloé's annexation to the Republic of Chile and to celebrate Technical-Professional Education Month.

Four technical high school teams participated in the event, representing different institutions managed by SLEP Chiloé: Liceo Bicentenario de Quemchi, Rayén Mapu de Quellón, Bicentenario Insular de Achao, and the host, Liceo Bicentenario Politécnico de Castro.
