Liconsa faces investigation over 45 million pesos in irregularities

The Auditoría Superior de la Federación (ASF) has identified approximately 45 million pesos in unexplained transactions within Liconsa operations during 2023. The audit has prompted several administrative investigations into potential irregularities across the states of Chihuahua, Jalisco, and Coahuila.

Key findings include payments exceeding one million pesos made to two producers who had already passed away. Additionally, more than 35 million pesos were reportedly distributed to producers who allegedly exceeded the maximum number of cattle permitted to access guaranteed pricing. In Jalisco, 15.8 million pesos were flagged for payments to suppliers who did not meet established requirements, while Coahuila saw 14.9 million pesos under observation.

Investigations have specifically highlighted Gregorio Chávez Treviño, the brother of Morena Senator Andrea Chávez, who served as the state manager for Liconsa in Chihuahua. Federal deputy and PRI state president Álex Domínguez has called for a thorough investigation to ensure legal accountability without political considerations.
