Lidl begins construction on second supermarket in Bitola

Lidl has officially commenced construction on its second retail facility in Bitola, North Macedonia, marked by a cornerstone-laying ceremony. This new project is being developed as a ‘metropol super market’ type facility located in Nova Bitola.

Katarina Zorić, Director of Real Estate for Lidl North Macedonia, stated that the company builds its own facilities from the ground up to meet high international standards for quality, energy efficiency, and sustainability. The expansion is part of a long-term strategy to develop a modern retail and logistics infrastructure across the country.

Bitola Mayor Toni Konjanovski highlighted the investment as a significant contribution to the local economy, noting that it will create new jobs and provide opportunities for partnerships with domestic companies. The new site is designed to include modern infrastructure, such as a new access road, 108 parking spaces, and at least 20% green space on the plot.
