Lidl chicken meat from Romania recalled due to Salmonella

The State Agricultural and Food Inspection (SZPI) has issued a warning regarding two batches of chicken meat from Romania sold at Lidl stores in the Czech Republic after laboratory tests confirmed the presence of Salmonella.

The affected products include corn-fed chicken wings (batch 0021941173, best before July 23, 2026) and fresh chicken hind quarters (batch 0091980466, best before July 26, 2026). Both products carry the veterinary mark RO 100 EC.

Although the expiration dates have passed and the products are no longer on retail shelves, authorities warn consumers not to consume them if they have been stored in home freezers. Experts emphasize that freezing does not eliminate the risk of Salmonella contamination. To ensure safety, meat must be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 60 degrees Celsius. The case has been entered into the EU's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) to facilitate further investigation in Romania.
