Lidl collects 724,842 recyclable cans and bottles at Poland's Pol'and'Rock Festival 2026

During the Pol'and'Rock Festival 2026 in Poland, Lidl's Rock Island store operated continuously for 120 hours from 28 July to 2 August. The store’s deposit‑return machines received a total of 724,842 containers, including 576,184 metal cans and 145,312 PET bottles, which will be sent for recycling.

Around 200 Lidl employees staffed the site, and festival‑goers queued to use the machines. Social‑media posts highlighted the popularity of the system, with some participants reportedly earning up to 2,000 zł per day by collecting large quantities of containers. The initiative demonstrated the retailer’s push to extend its deposit‑return format to mass‑attendance events.
