Lidl completes Dutch charging infrastructure rollout in Waddinxveen

Lidl has opened its sixth fast-charging station at its distribution center in Waddinxveen, completing the installation of dedicated charging infrastructure across all its regional distribution centers in the Netherlands. This milestone prepares the supermarket chain to achieve its goal of supplying all Dutch stores via 100% electric and emission-free transport by 2027.

The Waddinxveen facility will supply stores in South Holland and parts of Utrecht using electric trucks powered by green electricity, partially generated by solar panels on the warehouse roof. To address grid congestion and promote the energy transition, Lidl is making these charging points available to local transporters and other businesses through reserved time slots.

State Secretary for Climate and Green Growth, De Bat, attended the official opening, noting that opening the infrastructure to local entrepreneurs helps optimize the use of available power grid capacity.
