Lidl expands French presence with new stores and outlet locations

Lidl is expanding its retail footprint in France through both standard store openings and a growing network of outlet locations. The company is rolling out Lidl Outlet stores designed to sell non-food unsold inventory—including fashion, sports equipment, beauty products, and tools—at discounts ranging from 30% to 60%.

Recent outlet openings include Marquette-lez-Lille on September 10, 2025, and Mauguio near Montpellier on September 18, 2025. These follow previous outlet launches in Saint-Pierre-du-Perray, La Ciotat, and Drancy. These initiatives also include anti-waste measures by offering food products at significantly reduced prices.

In addition to the outlet concept, Lidl has announced plans for 31 net new store openings scheduled through early 2027. The expansion includes several locations in late 2025, such as Bordeaux Benauge and Paris Montmartre in September, and various sites in October and November. The company previously announced 90 projects involving the creation or renovation of stores for the 2026 period.
