Lidl expands Polish food exports as Dunnes Stores leads Irish retail

In Poland, Lidl has expanded the international reach of domestic producers, with 386 Polish suppliers now providing products to 28 different foreign markets. The retailer plans to discuss the details of this export success at the Polagra trade fair in Poznań.

In Ireland, Dunnes Stores has maintained its market leadership. Recent data shows a 5.8% increase in take-home grocery sales in the four weeks leading up to August 9, 2026, compared to the previous year. This growth was driven by easing grocery inflation and warm summer weather, which encouraged more frequent shopping trips and increased spending on categories such as alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and ice cream. Online sales in the Irish market also saw a significant jump of 27.6% over a 12-week period.
