Lidl expands retail presence in France with new pop-up and planned locations
Lidl has opened a large-scale pop-up store dedicated to its Parkside DIY and gardening brand in Plan-de-Campagne, north of Marseille. Located in Europe’s largest commercial zone, the 1,400 square meter temporary space features approximately 500 product references across DIY, gardening, home, and textile categories. The store includes themed workshops and a ‘Parkids’ area for children and will remain open until late December.
In separate developments, reports suggest Lidl may open a new supermarket in Hyères by December 2026 as part of a broader expansion plan to inaugurate 31 French stores between late 2026 and early 2027. However, the specific project in Hyères faces potential hurdles regarding site size and local municipal preferences. Local officials have not yet officially confirmed the opening, noting that administrative authorizations and land-use commissions remain necessary for such projects.
