Lidl expands self‑scanning 'Lidl & Go' to 56 UK stores

Lidl GB is extending its Lidl & Go self‑scanning service to a further 56 stores across the United Kingdom. The rollout adds 37 stores in England, Scotland, and Wales after a successful pilot in seven locations, and introduces the feature to 19 additional stores in Scotland.

The service is integrated into the Lidl Plus app, allowing shoppers to scan items with their own smartphones, see a running total of spend and savings, and checkout faster. Early feedback highlighted its usefulness for families with children and shoppers who want tighter budget control. Lidl will continue to offer traditional staffed checkouts and standard payment methods.

The expansion accompanies a 60 % increase in investment in personalised coupons on the Lidl Plus app and the recent launch of the Lidl Points rewards scheme, part of the retailer’s broader digital innovation strategy.
