Lidl expands UK retail footprint and launches Irish mobile service

Lidl is expanding its presence and service offerings in Ireland and the United Kingdom. In Ireland, the retailer has launched Lidl Connect, a mobile service in partnership with 1GLOBAL. The service, managed via the Lidl Plus app, offers a monthly rolling plan including unlimited 5G data, calls, and texts to Irish and UK networks.

In the United Kingdom, Lidl GB is undertaking a £600 million investment drive to open more than 50 new stores during the current financial year. This expansion follows a period of significant growth, with the company reporting revenues of £13 billion for the year ending February 2026, representing a 10.8% increase. The retailer's operating profit rose 9.9% to £345 million, and its pre-tax profit saw a 31% jump to £205.5 million.

Lidl GB has recently overtaken Morrisons to become the fifth-largest grocery chain in the UK by value market share. Growth has been supported by a 12% increase in sales from its Deluxe premium range and a 19% rise in non-food item sales. The company's expansion and price investments contributed to an additional 43 million customer visits during the last financial year.
