Lidl Expands with New Stores in Bosnia‑Herzegovina and Slovakia

German retailer Lidl is preparing to launch a network of almost 30 stores across Bosnia and Herzegovina, with projects announced for cities such as Prijedor, Cazin, Mostar, Vitez, Čapljina and the Sarajevo suburb of Koševo. The chain is already active in 27 Bosnian towns, ranging from completed outlets to construction sites and planned locations, and is negotiating further openings in Široki Brijeg and Sanski Most.

In Slovakia, Lidl will open its first shop in the town of Sládkovičovo. The modern outlet, slated to open before the holiday shopping season, will occupy a 1,500 m² space within a 11,000 m² development that includes extensive parking, green areas and eco‑friendly features such as LED lighting and rain‑water recycling. The store is expected to create about 40 jobs.

Both projects illustrate Lidl’s ongoing push to broaden its footprint in Central and Southeast Europe.
