Lidl GB launches Better Futures initiative to support 5 million people by 2030

Lidl GB has introduced its ‘Better Futures’ commitment, aiming to support five million people across Great Britain by 2030. The initiative consolidates the retailer’s existing community, nutrition, and employment programmes under a single measurable target.

The programme is built upon four primary pillars: tackling food insecurity, supporting local communities, improving children’s health, and facilitating access to employment. To address food security, Lidl utilizes its ‘Feed it Back’ initiative in partnership with Olio and Neighbourly to redistribute surplus food. The Lidl Community Fund contributes £1 million annually to local causes, with recipients chosen by customer and colleague votes.

In terms of health and employment, the retailer’s ‘Lidl Foodies’ programme provides nutritional education to one in four British primary schools. Additionally, Lidl’s partnership with NSPCC and Childline raised £2.5 million last year for counselling services. To support employment, the company works with Standing Tall to assist individuals experiencing homelessness in securing stable work through youth programmes and recruitment support.
