Lidl introduces digital receipts for customers in Slovakia
Lidl is introducing a new digital receipt feature for its customers in Slovakia via the Lidl Plus mobile application. This update allows shoppers to opt out of receiving printed paper receipts, instead storing a digital version directly within the app.
To use this feature, customers must manually activate the option ‘Nechcem tlačený blok’ (I do not want a printed receipt) under their personal QR code in the app. Once enabled, the setting remains active for all subsequent purchases unless the user chooses to revert to paper receipts. The digital receipt carries the same legal weight as a paper one and can be used for product returns or complaints.
For customers using self-service checkouts with this feature enabled, the system will only print a minimal slip containing a barcode required to open the exit gate. Lidl noted that according to Slovak legislation, customers are entitled to only one original receipt, preventing duplication. Additionally, the retailer is preparing to pilot its ‘Scan&Go’ self-scanning service in select stores starting in autumn 2026.
