Lidl invests over €10M in Spanish store expansions
Lidl is investing over €10 million to expand and modernize its presence in Spain. The investment includes the opening of a new store in Barcelona and the reopening of two refurbished locations in Madrid and Carballo.
Scheduled for September 18, the new Barcelona location will feature 1,300 square meters of sales area, over 70 parking spaces, and two electric vehicle charging points. The refurbished Madrid store will offer 1,500 square meters and five charging points, while the Carballo site will provide over 1,400 square meters and two charging points. These developments are expected to create 27 direct jobs.
This move is part of a broader strategy for the 2026 financial year, during which the retailer plans to open approximately 40 new stores and refurbish around 10 others across the country. This follows significant recent investments in logistics, including the Martorell facility in Barcelona.
