Lidl expands Scan&Go self‑checkout pilot in Poland and plans similar rollout in Slovakia

Lidl has been testing a Scan&Go feature in a limited number of Polish stores through its Lidl Plus app. The system lets shoppers scan items directly on the shelf, place them in their bag or trolley, and complete payment at a self‑checkout terminal without having to rescan the goods. Some users reported that the function was initially unavailable and required reinstalling the app before it appeared.

In Slovakia, Lidl announced that a major change to the checkout process will be introduced, allowing customers to pay without having to unload items from their basket. The forthcoming service is described as a large‑scale improvement that will eliminate one of the most tedious parts of shopping, echoing the Scan&Go concept being piloted in Poland.
