Lidl opens 13,000th global store in Raunheim, Germany
German supermarket chain Lidl has reached a global milestone by opening its 13,000th store. The anniversary location is situated in Raunheim, Hesse, near Frankfurt, covering approximately 1,200 square meters.
Lidl currently operates in 32 countries, with more than 3,250 stores located in Germany. In its most recent fiscal year, the company reported revenues exceeding 140 billion euros, representing a 6.1 percent increase. The new Raunheim branch features updated product presentation methods and an expanded selection of fresh goods and private-label brands.
To celebrate the opening, the retailer organized a three-day event for local residents including promotional app offers and product demonstrations. As part of its community engagement, Lidl also coordinated a donation to the local handball club, TG 1862 e. V. Rüsselsheim, to support youth work and grassroots sports.
