Lidl opens larger Sant Joan d'Alacant store, adds 12 jobs

Lidl has opened a new supermarket in Sant Joan d'Alacant, Spain, replacing its former outlet on Avenida Miguel Hernández. The new premises are 60% larger, covering 1,522 m², and were built with a €5.7 million investment. The store now employs 30 staff members, including 12 newly created positions hired through the local employment service.

The facility features sustainability measures such as 531 m² of photovoltaic panels that supply about 30% of its electricity, LED lighting, domotic controls and four electric‑vehicle charging points, plus 113 parking spaces. Local products like Valor chocolate and Amstel beer are highlighted. Mayor Santiago Román toured the store at the inauguration. Lidl’s presence in the Valencian Community now totals 85 stores, employing over 1,700 people and generating more than 20,500 jobs in the region.
