Lidl opens two new supermarkets in Spain, investing over €13 million
Lidl Spain is spending more than €13 million to launch two new supermarkets as part of its FY 2026 expansion plan. The first store in Poio, Pontevedra, Galicia, will open on 19 June with a sales area of over 1,500 m², 115 parking spaces and three electric‑vehicle charging points. The second store in La Pobla de Farnals, Valencia, will open on 26 June with similar size, about 120 parking spaces and three charging points.
Together the two outlets will create 43 direct, stable jobs and add more than 3,000 m² of retail space to Lidl’s existing network of roughly 730 stores across Spain. The openings are part of a broader strategy that foresees around 50 new points of sale by the 2026 fiscal year, of which about 40 will be brand‑new supermarkets and the remainder modernisation projects. Recent logistic investments, such as a new centre in Constantí and facilities in Martorell, also support the retailer’s growth in the country.
