Lidl plans new supermarket in Čapljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina

German retailer Lidl announced plans to build a new supermarket in the Tasovcići settlement at the entrance to Čapljina, situated on the busy M17 highway and near a major traffic round‑about connecting routes to Mostar, Sarajevo, Neum, Stoca and the Croatian border crossing at Doljani. The site is close to the President hotel and a few dozen metres from the recently opened Corner Park shopping centre, indicating the emergence of a new commercial zone in the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Lidl outlet will be one of several large retail projects slated for the area, with another sizable shopping centre also under preparation. The opening is expected to increase competition in the regional retail market and draw shoppers from Čapljina, surrounding Herzegovinian towns, neighboring Croatia, and passing tourists. It is part of Lidl’s broader expansion across Bosnia and Herzegovina, which already includes projects in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Zenica, Mostar, Gračanica, Bijeljina, Zvornik, Bihać and Livno.
