Lidl plans new supermarket in Sarajevo Centar municipality
The municipal council of Centar, Sarajevo has extended the public comment period for the draft amendments to the Zetra regulatory plan to July 13, 2026, to consider converting an existing residential building into a Lidl supermarket. During a public hearing, officials noted that the project is expected to create about 50 new jobs for local residents, offer competitive wages and contributions, and generate roughly 300,000 KM in rent revenue for the municipality. The plan also anticipates increased tax income, involvement of local contractors, and improvements to infrastructure and the business environment.
Lidl’s preliminary analysis highlighted the potential positive effects on employment and municipal finances, while the council will integrate all public feedback into the final report for the Cantonal planning institute.
