Lidl Portugal donates 270,000 euros to animal protection associations

Lidl Portugal has distributed 270,000 euros to 54 animal protection associations following the success of its ‘Pa-tudo’ solidarity bag initiative. Launched in June, the bags are sold for one euro, with 0.50 euros from each sale donated directly to the cause.

Each supported association will receive 5,000 euros. The funds are intended to address critical operational challenges, specifically high veterinary costs—cited by 91% of the institutions—and shortages in food and hygiene products. The initiative is expected to benefit more than 12,300 animals, including approximately 7,600 cats and 4,700 dogs.

Vanessa Romeu, head of Corporate Affairs at Lidl Portugal, noted that the support is vital as many associations are operating with minimal resources or facing imminent stock shortages. The distribution event included Cláudia Vieira, an ambassador for the initiative.
