Lidl ramps up construction and prepares openings in Bosnia and Herzegovina

German retailer Lidl is advancing construction of a new hyper‑market at the strategic Travnik‑Vitez‑Novi Travnik crossroads in the Lašva valley, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Aerial footage shows a large modern building taking shape, with plans for extensive parking and the creation of many local jobs.

The parent Schwarz Group reported a 6.1% rise in Lidl sales to €140.2 billion in its 2025 fiscal year and announced investment of more than €10 billion, including €5 billion for German projects. In Bosnia, Lidl has built a large distribution‑logistics centre near Sarajevo and is erecting stores in several cities, including an operational outlet in Banja Luka, with the first shops expected to open early next year. The expansion is expected to boost competition, improve prices for consumers and stimulate regional economic development.
