Lidl recalls Charentais melons in France due to insecticide levels

Lidl has issued a product recall for Charentais melons sold in bulk across several French departments following the detection of excessive insecticide residues. The specific lot affected is L34 02, which was marketed between August 20 and August 23, 2026.

The recall was triggered by levels of flonicamide exceeding the maximum permitted limit. Flonicamide is an insecticide used to combat crop pests and can be toxic if ingested, or less severely through skin contact or inhalation.

The recall impacts numerous locations in over thirty departments, including Paris, Yvelines, Seine-Saint-Denis, and Gironde, among others. Consumers who purchased melons from the affected lot are advised to return them to a Lidl store for a full refund.
