Lidl recalls frozen berry mix over possible Norovirus contamination in Germany
The manufacturer Jütro Tiefkühlkost GmbH & Co. KG has issued a recall of its Freshona Bio Beerenmischung erntefrisch tiefgefroren frozen berry mix (300 g) sold at Lidl because the product may be contaminated with Norovirus. Affected batches are L180426H3, L180426L3, L190426L3 and L190426N3, with best‑before dates of 17 April 2028 (some sources list 2027). The recall covers stores in most German federal states – Baden‑Württemberg, Bayern, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hessen, Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern, Niedersachsen, Nordrhein‑Westfalen, Rheinland‑Pfalz, Saarland, Sachsen, Sachsen‑Anhalt and Thüringen – but excludes Bremen, Hamburg and Schleswig‑Holstein. Consumers are advised not to eat the product and to return the packages to any Lidl store for a full refund, even without a receipt.
Norovirus can cause sudden severe vomiting and diarrhoea, leading to rapid fluid loss. Children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with chronic illnesses are especially vulnerable. The manufacturer states that other Freshona products and other Jütro items are not affected. The recall has also been reported in Austria, where the same batches were sold.
