Lidl reorganizes product placement in Slovakian stores

Lidl stores in Slovakia are implementing a reorganization of product placement, moving several items from refrigerated sections to standard ambient shelves. This change affects products such as mayonnaise, tartar sauces, processed cheeses, and selected smoked meat products that are validated for storage at temperatures up to 25 °C.

According to Juraj Lapoš, head of the meat products department, the transition followed months of intensive testing with suppliers to ensure that taste and quality remain consistent under the new storage conditions. The freed-up refrigerated space will be used to introduce new product lines.

Martin Slepák, a quality manager at Syráreň Bel Slovensko, confirmed that for products validated for storage up to 25 °C, room temperature does not affect safety or declared shelf life. He noted that while cheese might become softer or creamier at these temperatures, consumers are still advised to store purchased products in a refrigerator to maintain optimal sensory properties.
