Lidl restructures non-food business with new permanent theme worlds
Lidl is implementing a major restructuring of its non-food business by replacing rotating weekly promotions with permanent “themenwelten” (theme worlds) across its stores. This shift moves away from the traditional schedule where specific deals appeared on Mondays or Thursdays, instead providing fixed locations for product categories such as DIY and garden (Parkside), sports and leisure (Crivit), and household goods.
The new concept aims to improve store clarity and help customers plan purchases more effectively. To support this, employees use handheld devices to check real-time availability of promotional items. This change is being rolled out across more than 3,250 German branches and is being implemented group-wide in all countries where Lidl operates.
In addition to this structural change, Lidl is conducting outlet sales in early September at selected locations. These sales feature clearance items, seasonal goods, and returns from the non-food range, including tools, household appliances, and textiles, often at significant discounts.
