Lidl rolls out low‑cost portable cooling devices for summer heat

Lidl has introduced two budget-friendly cooling solutions aimed at helping customers cope with the emerging heat wave. In Spain the retailer launched a Tronic‑branded evaporative cooler priced at €44.99. The device uses a 4‑litre water tank, ice packs and a 65 W motor to lower indoor temperature by 2–5 °C in dry conditions, consuming far less electricity than a conventional portable air‑conditioner. It includes three fan speeds, a 15‑hour timer and a remote control, and is sold with a 30‑day return window.

The second product is a Tronic portable air‑conditioner sold for €199.99. It requires no permanent installation, runs on 1 010 W, and is rated A for energy efficiency. Designed for rooms of 20–30 m², it offers cooling, dehumidifying and ventilation modes, a maximum noise level of 65 dB, and comes with a window‑installation kit and remote control. Approximately 81 % of purchasers recommend the unit. Both items are part of Lidl’s seasonal strategy to attract store traffic during high‑temperature periods, offering alternatives to higher‑priced split systems.
